Hydro Therapy Pool
Some children with autism are easily distracted and are sensitive to certain textures. Warm water calms children and helps ease the senses of children during hydrotherapy. The hydrostatic pressure forms during therapy, and surrounds the body in water, making touch more tolerable.
Autistic children gain skills with swimming, balance, and strength during hydrotherapy. With the reduction of body weight in water, there’s less stress and a decrease in impact during their time in the pool.
A Sensory Room is a specially designed space aimed to stimulate the senses, promoting de-escalation and/or encouraging engagement. Sensory experiences can be hugely beneficial to children and adults alike. They are great for promoting a range of developmental skills. For example, colour recognition, hand-eye coordination, fine and gross motor skills.
Sensory rooms can help those who have learning difficulties, developmental disabilities or sensory impairments learn to interact with the world around them, but in a safe environment that builds up their confidence and their ability. The user gets an unrestrained non-threatening space where they can explore at their own leisure.
